CITY GUIDE
Koh Samet is one of the easiest island breaks to add to a Bangkok trip, a compact Rayong island known for white-sand beaches, clear water and a long chain of bays stretching down its east coast. Sai Kaew is the busiest and most convenient beach, while Ao Phai, Ao Wong Duean and the quieter southern coves offer progressively slower stays. Ao Prao on the west coast adds a more resort-focused atmosphere, and much of the island sits within Khao Laem Ya–Mu Ko Samet National Park. Small enough to explore over a few days but varied enough to change noticeably from beach to beach, Koh Samet works especially well for short island breaks.
