WHAT TO EXPECT

Bangkok’s central business and nightlife district, combining office towers, Lumpini Park access, restaurants, rooftop bars, Patpong, LGBTQ+ nightlife and fast BTS/MRT connections.

KEY PLACES

  • Silom Road
  • Sala Daeng / Patpong
  • Sathorn
  • Chong Nonsi / Mahanakhon side

DAYTIME

Lumpini Park, King Power Mahanakhon, urban architecture and historic religious sites sit alongside the business district.

FOOD

Silom and Sathorn combine office-district street food, long-established Thai restaurants, international dining and some of Bangkok’s strongest fine-dining and rooftop options.

EVENINGS

The area has major nightlife around Silom, Patpong and LGBTQ+ venues, while Sathorn is generally more restaurant, cocktail and rooftop oriented.

MOVING AROUND

BTS Skytrain, MRT, walking, taxis and ride-hailing.

Use rail or river transport whenever it aligns with your route, then use taxis or ride-hailing for the final gap.

FIRST-TIME CHECKLIST

  • BTS Sala Daeng and MRT Silom make this one of Bangkok’s easiest mixed-transit bases.
  • Patpong is only one part of the area.
  • Sathorn can feel quiet on some office streets at night despite being centrally located.
  • Check hotel distance from BTS/MRT if you expect to rely on rail.

GOOD LENGTH OF STAY

2–5 nights.

A good first stay in Silom & Sathorn is one where the area’s strengths match your priorities rather than forcing you across Bangkok several times every day.
